With mutually shared goals of
increasing the integration of people living with disabilities in Haiti, le
Bureau du Secrétaire d’Etat à l’Intégration des Personnes Handicapées (BSEIPH) has
become the Empower Haitian Women project’s newest partner. In a meeting on May
28th, 2015 between Doudly Elius, project founder; Daworldson SENELUS, BSEIPH’s
placement services coordinator; Daniel Jean, trainer/volunteer; Cajou Jean, and
Jude Adrien, volunteers, partnership parameters and goals were broached.
BSEIPH’s commitment to raise
awareness of national and international public opinion about disability issues
and strengthen the capacity of associations related to disability issues made
them a natural partner for the Empower Haitian Women project, which will
provide business and entrepreneurial training for 40 Haitian women living with
disabilities.
Dawoldson Senelus,
representing BSEIPH, agreed that BSEIPH will provide a handicap accessible location
for the training. Accessible locations are rare commodities in Port-au-Prince.
The Empower Haitian Women project and participants will benefit greatly from
the generosity of BSEIPH and is looking forward to kicking off the training at
their offices in Nazon on Monday, September 14th,2015.
