“Disability Rights and Awareness: 2Gether-International CEO and Empower Haitian Women Chief of Party Meet in DC”
On a recent trip to Washington, DC for the spring 2016 Professional Fellows Conference, Doudly Elius, founder of Empower Haitian Women, had the opportunity to meet with 2Gether-International’s CEO, Diego Mariscal.
Judith Heumann, Special Advisor for International Disability Rights, made the introduction seeing the similarities between Diego and Doudly’s work in disability advocacy and social media. Both founders’ disability-focused organizations share a common commitment to education, awareness, and empowerment.
Diego’s organization, 2Gether-International, educates and unifies young people around disability, preparing them to act on issues affecting their communities. The organization is the only tech non-profit working to foster disability pride. Not surprisingly, they have a wide social media presence.  Diego shared tips for leveraging social media as well as practical advice on business incubators, being an entrepreneur himself.
