NOMINATE DOUDLY ELIUS AS CNN Heroes 2017


-          Mr. Doudly Elius has a major in Administration, also multidimensional backgrounds in Business, Project Management, Communication and Journalism.
-          In addition to his job as a Business Connections Coordinator with Habitat for Humanity, Haiti, Doudly Elius runs ‘Empower Haitian Women,’ an organization he founded in 2014, which designs projects to empower one of the most vulnerable communities in Haiti - women living with disabilities.  Following his participation in the Professional Fellows Program, through which he developed a monitoring and evaluation tool for Rutgers University’s Small Business Development Center training program.
-          He is an excellent leader and motivator.  He is consistently one of the believers of the importance of accessibility and empowering women living with disabilities, has led to much more educationally based outpatient experience for the trainees.
    -          Despite his disability, he travels and moves to many places to achieve his goals making lives of the women with disabilities much better.
-          Participated in the Legislative Fellowship Program at Rutgers University’s Small Business Development Center.


      Despite his disability, in 2013 Doudly left Haiti, first time, to participate in the Legislative Fellowship Program at Rutgers University’s Small Business Development Center. Upon his return to Haiti, Doudly quickly put the new skills acquired to use. He designed a community project and obtained a grant from the Partners of the Americas U.S Organization to deliver business training to 10 people living with disabilities in Croix-des-Bouquets, and Senior Business Students by holding Training of Trainers sessions.
-          In 2014, he had the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund grant from the US Department of States for implementing the idea to educate women living with disabilities in Business Management, Communication, and Leadership.
o   Established L’Association pour l’Autonomisation des Femmes Haitiennes à Mobilité Réduite (Empower Haitian Women), to support Haitian women living with disabilities.
o   Mr. Elius is the first Haitian to win the AEIF (Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund) highly global Innovative Project Competition until now.
o   Participated in a U.S Embassy Sponsored Radio Show, to raise the public awareness towards his projects.
-          In 2015, Obtained the World Learning Online Course grant to the Advancing Leaders Fellowship Program and completed the Virtual Training Course in Social Innovation and Project Management for upgrading his project skills in order to keep working on community and sustainable projects to empower women with disabilities.
-          He obtained other certificates in the Toastmasters Communication and Leadership Program and won the Impromptu Speech contest for his International Communication club.

-          In 2016, Doudly Elius received the Alumni Impact Award from the U.S States Department for his work with women living with disabilities. An Award that had never received by any Haitian before.


Achievements:

-          In 2010, Doudly helped the biggest telecommunication company (Digicel) design a mobile banking system, which is now serving the Haitian population until now.

-          In 2014, he designed a community project and obtained a grant from the Partners of the Americas U.S Organization to deliver business training to 10 people living with disabilities in Croix-des-Bouquets, and Senior Business Students by holding Training of Trainers sessions.


o   Established Association pour l’Autonomisation des Femmes Haitiennes à Mobilité Réduite (Empower Haitian Women with Disabilities).

o   Supported hundreds of Haitian women living with disabilities.

o   Doudly also raised disability awareness in the local press and media to fight for the inclusion of people living with disabilities and especially women.
 
-          Still in 2014, he had presented his projects at the Civil Innovation Lab in the Dominican Republic, raised awareness about disabilities through the media, and initiated networks and partnerships with local and government organizations.
-          In 2015, organized English scholarships to women living with disabilities in the best English school – the Haitian American Institute (Institut Haitiano-Americain).
o   Trained 40 women living with disabilities of the Empower Haitian Women project participants, on Business skills and Entrepreneurship. The training delivered helped these women as they start or progress in their entrepreneurial journeys.
-          In June 2017, he was invited in Miami to the first Business Summit organized by the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce to participate in a business panel where he advocated for the integration of women with disabilities in the business sector.
 o   In July 2017, he partners with the Bureau of State for the Integration of the Disabled (BSEIPH) to deliver capacity building training to 35 people with disabilities, mostly disabled women.
o   Mr. Elius demonstrated his passion for community development in various ways. He obtained a grant for a community project to deliver business training to people living with disabilities as well as Training of Trainers sessions for senior business students.
